Outward Bounds

Co-ordinator: Mr M Stott

Denbigh School is involved in a range of outward bound/residential activities to cater for all levels of ability & interests. When students enter Year 9 invitations are given to one of the many week-long residential stays that are run. Students are also welcome to join the popular Duke of Edinburgh award scheme whilst they are in the lower school and, when students enter the 6th Form there is an opportunity to take part in the World Challenge.

Longrigg

Longrigg Residential Centre is owned by Milton Keynes Council, and provides residential opportunities for young people from Milton Keynes. Our aim is to provide rewarding outdoor experiences for young people. The centre is a non-profit making organisation.

Rob Gregory is the Head of Longrigg Residential Centre and is also a qualified teacher with vast experience of developmental training and outdoor education. He welcomes a shared and negotiated approach between groups and the centre in terms of course design and content.

"The Longrigg Centre serves the secondary schools of Milton Keynes very well. It provides students and teachers with a safe and caring learning environment."

World Challenge

The original school expedition company

World Challenge is the original schools expedition company offering an unrivalled range of expedition programmes focused 100% on the education of young people, stretching comfort zones and expanding minds outside the classroom.

Every bespoke programme we deliver is designed with the students’ personal development in mind and see young people involved in planning and fundraising their way to the experience of a lifetime. The life skills they learn will not only aid personal growth, but can help secure university places and impress future employers.

The UK’s key employers voted World Challenge by name as the fourth most important activity undertaken at school, above activities such as Young Enterprise and sporting events. These organisations rated leadership, teamwork, self-motivation, communication, confidence, consideration of others and the ability to learn as being the key determinants in the selection of employees; all of which are World Challenge’s life skills.
This independent study was carried out by the United Learning Trust in association with Ratcliff Hall Ltd
