Expectations of Students & Parents ...
Home
School Agreement:
Every student joining the School is asked along with his or her parents to
sign a Home School Agreement.
The Agreement sets out below highlights
what the School expects of students and parents but also what the parent and
student can expect from the School.

Positive
Behaviour Management:
Good order and discipline are essential to the provision of high standards
of learning and teaching.
To achieve this, the School has a clearly defined
structure for the recognition and promotion of positive behaviour, together with
a clear and fair system for celebrating success and dealing with incidents of
indiscipline.
We encourage and give praise for positive behaviour through a Share Reward
system.
This scheme rewards individual students for good behaviour by awarding
them shares, the value of which is determined by the ethos of the School, i.e.
better behaviour, or more success for the School raises the share price and therefore
increases the rewards for which students can trade their shares.
We wish to discourage selfish and anti‑social behaviour. Detentions
are given for unsatisfactory work and behaviour.
After school detentions
are notified to the parents either by post or through the school diary.
Twenty-four
hours’ notice is given and parents are expected to make appropriate arrangements
for their child’s safe journey home afterwards.
In certain circumstances a student may be put ‘on report’ to check
daily progress.
Parents may be asked into School to see the Tutor, Head
of Faculty, or Head of House if poor work or unsatisfactory behaviour persist.
On
very rare occasions a student may be ‘excluded’ from School for serious
misbehaviour.
Frequent or serious misbehaviour may result in the student’s
permanent exclusion from the School.
A Behaviour Policy is available, on request, from the School.

Anti-Bullying
Measures:
We have a formal, written Anti-Bullying Policy, which makes clear our determination
that everyone has a right to feel safe and secure.
This policy is available
on request from the School.

Attendance:
It is our policy to encourage punctual and regular attendance in order that
students may experience continuity in their learning.
The School will not authorise absence due to holidays being taken
during term time.
We therefore particularly ask that parents do not book
their family holiday in term time.
We rigorously follow-up unexplained absence and, where we suspect truancy,
work closely with parents and our Educational Welfare Officer to identify problems
and ensure full attendance.
Students who achieve 100% attendance in a half-term are awarded the Denbigh
Certificate of Attendance.
An Attendance Policy is available, on request,
from the School

Homework:
Homework will be set and checked on a regular basis in all Year Groups. Parents
will receive a half-termly report on their child’s homework record.
A
Homework Policy is available, on request, from the School.

Diaries:
Each student is given a diary.
The diary should help parents keep in
contact with what their child is doing in School, especially what achievements
and shares have been gained, what homework has been set, results from tests and
involvement in extra‑curricular activities.
The School’s Anti-Bullying Policy and its expectations regarding student
behaviour are included in the diary.
We hope you will help us in supporting your child’s progress by making
the diary effective. We would particularly like you to do the following:
1. Look at the diary at least
once a week and sign it. If
you wish to make a comment, please do so in the notes section for that particular
week.
2. Talk to your child about the achievements
and developments recorded in the diary.
3. Encourage your child to plan his/her
time to accommodate homework each and every evening.
