The Performing Arts faculty
is a combination of Music, Drama & Dance
The Performing Arts Faculty are instrumental in running lessons on a range
of different instruments as well as planning, organising & producing popular
annual evens like the Battle of the Bands, Rock Challenge and the School Production
as well as donating time after school to
help students develop their skills and complete projects.

Music is a powerful form of
communication.
It brings
together intellect and feeling and enables personal expression, reflection and
emotional development.
Iit is an integral part of culture, past and present,
and helps students understand themselves and relate to others, forging important
links between home, school and the wider world.
The teaching of music at
Denbigh develops the student’s ability to listen and appreciate a wide
variety of music and encourages active involvement in different forms of music
making, both individual and communal.
Music helps to increase self-discipline
and creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfilment.
The extra curricular
programme complements the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
In Drama programmes of study
are designed to allow students to develop a creative and imaginative response
to a given stimulus.
Students work in pairs or groups and learn negotiation skills.
Students
will also study the history of the theatre and technical skills such as lighting,
sound and set design.
Dance, whilst being an important part in promoting health and fitness among
our students, as a subject Dance focuses on the visual and artistic qualities
of different dance styles and the use of movement as a form of expression.
Like
music, dance is a powerful form of communication.
