11-16: key stage 3 & gcse

Music is a powerful form of communication.

It brings together intellect and feeling and enables personal expression, reflection and emotional development.

Iit is an integral part of culture, past and present, and helps students understand themselves and relate to others, forging important links between home, school and the wider world.

The teaching of music at Denbigh develops the student’s ability to listen and appreciate a wide variety of music and encourages active involvement in different forms of music making, both individual and communal.

Music helps to increase self-discipline and creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfilment.

The extra curricular programme complements the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.

In Drama programmes of study are designed to allow students to develop a creative and imaginative response to a given stimulus.

Students work in pairs or groups and learn negotiation skills.

Students will also study the history of the theatre and technical skills such as lighting, sound and set design.

Dance, whilst being an important part in promoting health and fitness among our students, as a subject Dance focuses on the visual and artistic qualities of different dance styles and the use of movement as a form of expression.

Like music, dance is a powerful form of communication.
