NQTs at Denbigh School :
At Denbigh School we recognise how crucial your NQT year is and we make every
effort to ensure you have a successful and fulfilling year.
All NQTs (and other new staff) are invited in for a day's
induction
before school begins. This allows them to meet other staff and become
more
familiar with the school and its systems.
NQT’s are assigned a “buddy”. This is someone who
is there as a friend to give them the kind of advice they perhaps don’t
wish to ask anyone else.
All NQT’s have a mentor – normally their Subject Leader or an
Advanced Skills Teacher.
Mentors meet regularly, once a week, with
NQT’s. Mentors help
NQT’s complete their CEDP’s, setting objectives, monitoring, observing
and advising.
The school also has a structured NQT Induction
programme that runs throughout the first year. This is run to allow NQT’s to meet with one another
regularly and to help them work towards achieving the Induction Standards.
NQT’s are also not expected to do any cover in their first two terms.
NQT’s receive a laptop for their use and access to all on-site ICT training
and facilities.
All in all, NQT’s at Denbigh School are treated how they should
be.
“The induction of NQT’s is particularly well defined and managed. Support
is provided from a number of sources …….”
