the Malaysian World Challenge...
In the Summer of 2008 16 Year 13 students will be embarking
on a 3 1/2 week expedition to Malaysia; an experience of a lifetime.
Once there they will spend time acclimatising to the new conditions
before undertaking a series of practice treks. In the second week they will go
on a more extensive trek through the Malaysian rainforests followed by a week
of working within a local community project.
Each student has to raise a total of £3000.00 before
the summer of 2008 which they hope to achieve through group and individual fundraising
activities.
The students are currently
making and selling:
a range of refreshing
and healthy items every Friday during break and lunchtimes:
- Smoothies: £1.50, with a 50p return deposit on the
glasses
- Pots of: Strawberries or Melon Pieces £0.50
- Fruit Juice: £0.50
- Fruit: Bananas, Apples & Satsumas (£0.25)
The latest fundraising initiative is:
collecting
unwanted mobile phones for recycling, for which the students will receive a small
fee.
If you have an unwanted phone which you are willing to donate (the phone must
have its battery) then please bring it into school and hand it to the students
on the Smoothie stall on Fridays or pass it on to Mrs Oscroft with the tear-off
slip (this will be available for download from tomorrow if you have misplaced
the letter).
Thank you for your support.
