Our Expectations

AIMS

Denbigh School provides an outstanding educational experience to around 1400, 11 to 19 year old students on the Western Flank of Milton Keynes. We are a Foundation School which allows us to be self governing, have control of own budget and employ our own staff. Led by a forward thinking and committed Governing Body, this gives us the independence to be innovative and dynamic in all that we do.

Our ethos is to create a culture of success to extend lifetime opportunities for young people and everything we do fuels this ambition. We want our students to develop an enjoyment of learning and a thirst for knowledge.

We have been judged by Ofsted to be an outstanding school following their recent inspection in May, 2009. We strive to continually improve as a School. We have experienced much success and we believe the best way to build on this success is to constantly develop and improve. This commitment has been recognised by Ofsted, who commented that “there is no complacency at Denbigh; instead, everyone keeps striving to become better at all they do.”

We have been a Specialist Technology School for 12 years which has enabled us to use technology to broaden the curriculum and raise the attainment of our students.  The use of Technology and IT underpins all of our work and it is our means of driving achievement forward.

We provide an appropriate, but challenging education, for students of all abilities, providing each student with the support to maximise their chances of success.  As a School, we consistently outperform the Milton Keynes and national averages, at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level.

We have a strong culture of extra curricular and sporting activities, which we believe is fundamental to providing an all-round education for our students.  Our sporting excellence is recognised nationally by Sport England and by the number of our students competing at a national level in their sporting fields.  Students benefit from the excellent sporting facilities shared with Shenley Leisure Centre, adjacent to the School.

We are recognised as a Healthy School under the National Healthy Schools Programme and we are committed to having a healthy school environment for both students and staff.

We are innovative in how we work with the community and business to the benefit of our students.  We are also part of the Youthbridge Scheme, a British/German National Programme to promote German learning and culture in British schools.

We constantly strive to raise student attainment to help our students gain the qualifications they need to achieve their goals.  We provide a broad and balanced educational experience which will help all of our students develop into well rounded, confident and secure young people.
