Our Uniform

Uniform

Students are part of a learning community at Denbigh and wearing the uniform is vital to feeling a sense of belonging in our community.  Our uniform requirements have been drawn up to achieve a neat appearance and to be fit for purpose.  Students are expected to wear the prescribed school dress within school and on journeys to and from school.  A full list of uniform requirements is set out below:

General uniform requirements:

  •   All articles of clothing should be clearly marked with the owner's name.
  •   Jewellery should not be worn in school. It is dangerous in P.E. and some practical lessons.  The only exceptions are a small pair of studs, one in each ear.  There should be no other visible piercings.
  •   Extremes of hair colour and hairstyle or patterns are not allowed.
  •   Coloured shirts worn underneath the school shirt are also not allowed.
  •   If a belt is worn it should be in accordance with school uniform colours.
  •   Hijab head scarves should be in accordance with school colours.
  •   Hair ‘decorations’ should be in accordance with school colours.
  •   Outdoor Jackets must be plain and dark in colour.

Girls' Clothing

  • Plain knee-length black skirt or full length black trousers (not denim, cord, canvas or leather).  Jean-style trousers are not allowed.
  •   Regulation school shirt ‑ light blue (saxe) with a collar.  (Please do not accept "fashion" alternatives to the regulation shirt).
  •   A school tie (The tie includes the school crest).
  •   Black v-neck jumper with Denbigh crest.
  • White/dark socks or dark/neutral coloured tights (plain).
  • Shoes must be of a sensible design in black or black boots (for inclement weather only).  Canvas shoes are not allowed.  Shoes must be plain in colour without coloured trim or stitching. 
  • Apron or smock for practical work (available from school).
  • P.E./Games kit all clearly marked:
Indoor Kit


1 plain 'T' shirt with collar ‑ white
1 pair royal blue shorts (not navy)
1 pair white plimsolls or white trainers (not black)

Outdoor Kit


1 pair royal blue or plain white football socks
1 pair royal blue jogging bottoms and plain sweatshirts (not navy)
1 pair black hockey or football boots
1 towel
1 games bag ‑ clearly marked
1 pair of shin-pads
Gum-shield is recommended

Boys' Clothing

  • Black trousers (not denim, cord, canvas or leather).  Jean-style trousers are not allowed.

1 white short sleeved round neck shirt 
1 pair white shorts

1 pair black rugby shorts
1 pair black football socks
1 pair football boots 
1 reversible games shirt (Denbigh - black with gold band)
1 towel
1 pair of swimming trunks to be worn under shorts
1 pair of shin-pads – compulsory
Gum-shield is compulsory
