Celebrating Community & Diversity on Cultures Day

Cultures Day, although only in its third year is now firmly set as one of the highlights of the school year. On the day the School is full of colour, joy and enthusiasm as our students celebrate their cultural heritage with huge pride.
This year, Year 7 to 11 students came into school in cultural dress and brought in flags from countries from around the world. There was a photo booth in the Activities Studio where students could capture memories of this special day by taking photos of each other in cultural dress.
Each year group had a Celebration Assembly when students sang, danced and shared poems and readings from their culture. Cucina the School’s caterers joined in with a special menu celebrating cuisine from around the World.
To allow our families to join in with the fun, we hosted a Cultures Day Showcase after-school with proceeds going to Samuel’s Charity. The Showcase was a fantastic opportunity for our students to share their talents and celebrate the rich diversity of Denbigh’s community with their families.
Mr Burgess, Assistant Headteacher who led the day said: ‘Our Year 7 to 11 Cultures Day grows every year and showcases the strong sense of belonging we have in our diverse school community. It was a joy to be involved, and we are grateful to the students on the Cultures Day Committee for all their hard work and helping to make this day happen.’
Annabella Hartslief, Y10, Chair of the School Council said: ‘Cultures Day is truly a special event where the entire school comes together in celebration. It’s inspiring to see everyone engage so wholeheartedly, creating memories that will last a lifetime. I’m proud and grateful to be a part of such a meaningful day.’
