Gauree Vijapurkar wins inaugural Headteacher’s Award

Gauree Vijapurkar, who has just completed Year 13 is the winner of our first ever Headteacher’s Award and was presented with the trophy at our Celebration of Success Ceremony by Mr Steed.  We wanted to introduce an annual award that recognises a student who has supported the School in realising its vision of ‘Aspire, Innovate, Achieve and Belong’.   Our very first winner, Gauree exemplifies the values we seek to honour with this award: academic excellence, leadership, and a profound dedication to the school community.

Gauree’s academic record is nothing short of exceptional. Achieving ten Grade 9s and one Grade 8 at GCSE, followed by four A* grades at A-level and an A grade at AS level, she has consistently demonstrated intellectual rigour, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.  Her contributions to the wider life of the school have been equally exceptional. Throughout her time here, Gauree held numerous leadership roles, including active membership of both the School and House Councils, culminating in her appointment as Chair of the School Council.   In her final year, while preparing a successful application to Oxford or Cambridge, she led the Sixth Form Committee in delivering our inaugural Diwali celebration—an event that enriched our community and celebrated cultural diversity.  In addition, she initiated and ran weekly girls’ basketball sessions, promoting participation and empowerment through sport.

Gauree is now at the University of Cambridge, reading Economics and we wish her well for the future and look forward to hearing about her journey after Denbigh, which we have no doubt will be exceptional.
