Denbigh is a double winner at MK Education Awards

Denbigh secured two wins at the MK Education Awards, winning the ‘English Team of the Year Award’ and the ‘Environmental & Sustainability Award’.  The MK Education Awards recognise the wealth of talented people within the MK Education sector who devote themselves to providing an outstanding learning experience for the young people of Milton Keynes, and it was a night of celebration for Denbigh as the winners were announced.

Our fantastic English Faculty Team were winners on the night, with the judges recognising how the shared vision of this dedicated team has led to a rapid improvement in results, maintained year-on-year.  In 2024, Denbigh achieved the top GCSE results in the City in all performance measures and a key element of this was our students’ performance in English. The Faculty Team also inspires our students to take part in extra-curricular activities, including our competitive Debate Club which allows students to develop their oracy skills and promotes critical thinking and effective communication.

Denbigh also impressed the judges in the Environmental & Sustainability category with our mission to become carbon neutral and to inspire students and staff into making lasting changes for a sustainable future for our school and local community.  This year, we achieved our goal of sourcing all our energy from renewable sources, as well as recycling extensively, including food waste which is composted to nourish our well-being and eco-dye gardens.  The judges were impressed with our innovative Eco-Dye Garden Club through which students transform food waste from the canteen and food lessons into compost to fertilise the growing garden and create eco-friendly dyes for creative projects.

Mr Steed, Headteacher said: ‘It was a wonderful night for our school when our talented and dedicated staff were recognised for providing an innovative and outstanding educational experience for our students’.
