Paralympic Gold Medalist Hosts Sports Awards

Maisie Summers-Newton, MBE, a British Paralympic swimmer who won Gold at both the 2020 & 2024 Paralympics was our special guest at our annual Sports Awards Ceremony.  Maisie joined us to hand out 200 awards to our students, including the prestigious Full and Half Colours Awards for those who have demonstrated the highest levels of skill and commitment when representing Denbigh.  ‘Players’ Player of the Year’ Awards, PE Curriculum Awards, Sixth Form Leadership and Football Academy awards were also given out on a night of sporting celebration.  Maisie took part in a lively Q&A session as students asked questions about her successful career.

Mr Linbourne, Head of our PE Faculty said: ‘The Sports Awards Ceremony is a highlight for myself and my colleagues in the PE Faculty as it is our opportunity to recognise the students who, through their commitment and talent, bring Denbigh so much sporting success.  We are delighted that Maisie was our special guest on the night and that she brought her gold medals with her!  It was inspirational for our students to meet her and discover the journey Maisie has followed to become an Olympic gold medalist.’
