Year 11 become Sixth Formers for the day
Year 11 students became Sixth Formers for the day last week to focus on their future after GCSEs in our Futures Day event. They were able to learn about and experience the full range of Post 16 options on offer, to enable them to make an informed choice about the next step in their educational journey.
Students chose five sessions to experience from our A Level offer, including vocational options like the Football Academy. There were presentations from MK College and Moulton College about what they can offer students and Niftylift talked to students about Apprenticeships. Looking further into the future, Bedfordshire University talked about life as a University undergraduate. There were also seminar sessions on CV writing, interview techniques and applying for Apprenticeships. Our Sixth Formers for the day had full use of all our Sixth Form facilities, including the Sixth Form Centre, Café and communal Street space.
Mr Bennett, the Director of Post 16 Education said: ‘Futures Day is a fantastic event which allows our Year 11 students to gain an insight into life as a Sixth Form student and explore their options for Post 16 study. We received fantastic feedback from teachers and visitors regarding the engagement of our students and we hope it gave them inspiration about the next steps in their educational journey.’
