Celebrating our Inaugural LAMDA Examination Programme

We are proud of the 40 talented students who recently took part in Denbigh’s first ever LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) examination programme. This exciting new initiative saw students from Year 8 to Year 11 embrace the opportunity to develop their performance skills in a structured, nationally recognised format.

At the start of the Summer term, Denbigh entered four group examination pieces and six solo performances into the prestigious LAMDA scheme. The students worked with dedication and creativity to prepare their pieces, demonstrating not only talent but also resilience, focus and a passion for the dramatic arts.

LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies, offering performance-based qualifications that are regulated by Ofqual and recognised on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). These examinations encourage learners to develop a range of transferable skills—such as communication, confidence, and collaboration—that are valuable in both academic and professional contexts. Notably, higher-level solo LAMDA qualifications (Grades 6–8) carry UCAS tariff points, giving students a competitive edge when applying for University or Further Education.

We expect to receive our students’ results by the end of this academic year and look forward to celebrating their achievements in full.

Registration will soon open for our next cycle of performance examinations. If you are interested in finding out more or wish to be part of the 2025/2026 programme, please contact Mrs Brunings on bruningsg@denbigh.net. Expressions of interest for a September 2025 start must be submitted by 1st July 2025.

This marks yet another exciting step forward for the Performing Arts at Denbigh and we look forward to building on this success in the years to come.
